THEATER ARTS FOCUS: DT 5, 6 OR 7 and Acting/Voice and The Company Dance Class.Reserve your child's spot for the Fall 2010 session by mailing in the registration form along with a non-refundable deposit of $50 per class along with the annual registration fee of $15 and (costume fee--ONLY FOR THOSE in BALLET/NUTCRACKER.) All payments are NON-REFUNDABLE. Balances are due on or before Sept. 1st 2010. If you would like to set up a payment plan please e-mail bcdiscoveries@yahoo.com or call 215-357-7402. A $20 late fee will be charged for payments received after September 5th.
Class Descriptions
Dance Theater (DT) (grades K-12) Musical Theater is a jazz-based class. During the Fall semester, the class period is spent on technical development. Parents are invited to observe an informal, in-house presentation in December. During the Winter/Spring semester, 90% of the class period is spent learning choreography to be performed in the upcoming staged musical production. Dances may vary in style and will take on a either a classic jazz, lyrical jazz, Broadway jazz, modern jazz or hip hop flare. NOTE: Any student can participate in a DT class. All DT students become part the cast of the staged Spring Musical Production and are expected to attend their weekly classes as well as ALL of the mandatory weekend rehearsals. (see "Calendar" for rehearsal dates and times).
Scene Study (SS) This class is only for those who audition and receive a lead speaking acting role in the upcoming production. This class meets weekly for student-performers to review the script. Spring Session Only.
Ballet Theater & Pre-Pointe/Pointe During the Fall semester students work on technique as well as learn Nutcracker performance choreography. During the Spring semester, students work on technique and learn performance choreography to be performed in the spring musical production.
Acting & Voice (A/V) combines age appropriate vocal instruction including a a vocal warm up & breathing exercises. Students explore a variety of musical genres to include: Broadway, Pop, Disney, Classical etc (and have the opportunity to sing solo or in a group.) All A/V students will perform 1 vocal piece, as a group, in the Spring production. Keyboard & Karaoke music are used to accompany) The Acting portion includes: improvisation, scene study, dramatic role play, commercials, on-camera activities & audition technique. NOTE: The acting/voice class style may vary depending on the teacher, day and time.
